Dubai is packed full of activities, events and places to go to.
Just being in the city presents a lot of opportunities to you and your kids, so pop on over to Dubai and we can get started.
Of course, it’s not that easy. First, you need a flight and a cheap hotel in Dubai or if you’re already here, sometimes it’s nice to find a great value hotel for a staycation.
Wild Wadi Water Park
An outdoor waterpark located in Jumeirah, Wild Wadi is a great place for families with children. With around 18 rides to enjoy, there’s something for everyone from a lazy river to the Jumeirah Sceirah, a 108ft free-fall waterslide that has riders reach speeds of up to 50mph. It’s a good job they’re landing in water, right?
Practice surfing on Wild Wadi’s two FlowRider rides, named Wipeout and Riptide, where jets blast a sheet of water across a foam surface, creating a realistic wave effect which is perfect for surfing, body boarding or watching other people try to surf and body board and then fall off. Great fun.
Wild Wadi uses a magnetic wristband service where you load your money onto the wristband and use that for food, drinks and services within the water park because nobody wants to be carrying around soggy cash, do they?
General admission prices for Wild Wadi are 310 AED (£62) for everybody taller than 1.1metres and 260 AED (£52) for those under 1.1metres. You can rent a towel for 40 AED (£8) per person and lockers for the day range from 45 AED (£9) to 85 AED (£17)
Magic Planet Arcade
I don’t know about you but I miss arcades. I miss the sounds of the machines pinging and beeping and flashing lights. I always loved going to the arcade whenever I saw one, playing on the machines and trying to save up enough tickets for the big flashy toy on the top shelf of the ticket counter.
Well, welcome back to arcades because Magic Planet has got you covered. With locations in City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Deira and Mall of the Emirates, there’s bound to be a Magic Planet location not far from a cheap hotel in Dubai.
So, head over the Magic Planet, load up your Magic Planet Card at one of the cashier points and challenge your kids on those great racing games, you know the ones. I bet you’ll win.
Magic Planet is free to enter but each arcade machine will require a certain amount of points. You can top up your Magic Planet Card with as little as 50 AED (£10) to get started and see how long it can last you.
If you’ve never heard of KidZania, you’re absolutely missing out. Well, no, your child is absolutely missing out.
KidZania is located inside Dubai Mall in Downtown Dubai.
It is, essentially, an immersive role-playing educational environment where children can partake in either playing the role of jobs or customers. The jobs include fireman, doctor, police officer, beautician etc. and will earn children KidZos, the currency accepted within KidZania. That currency is then used within KidZania for everything.
You can go down to KidZania, drop off your kids for 150 AED (£30) for all day admission and 50 KidZos. Then you can either choose to sit in the parent’s lounge or head off and do some shopping of your own because, come on, it’s Dubai Mall!
There are other options available for KidZania ranging from the standard 150 AED (£30) up to 295 AED (£59) for their Business Plus which gives you access to a business lounge while your child enjoys KidZania, as well as all-day fast-track admissions for your child with priority access to 3 establishments within KidZania and kick starts their KidZos bank account with 100 KidZos.
It’s always nice to give them a head start!
There are three great things to do in Dubai with kids, especially if you can find yourself a cheap hotel in Dubai.
